Relic Space Demo Update (v130)


Hi folks, it’s a pretty big update this time! Aside from around 30 bug-fixes making this the most stable version to date, there’s also:

  • 2 new enemy ships and all new equipment (including the kleptransporter and void bomb - I'll not give away what they do expect to say that the latter can be found on Kamikaze drones!) to add variety to the early game tactical combat

  • Improved resource trading. Each sector now has shortages and surpluses of goods, with resulting impact on prices, and the UI has also been improved to make it easier to buy low and sell high

  • All-new themed adaptive soundtracks for the Circle Faction, and for sectors with a mixture of Circle, Union and Order factions

Here’s the full list of changes for those who are interested:

New: Added faction-themed adaptive soundtracks for Circle Faction
New: 2 new enemy ship types (Kamikaze Drone for VoidSeeker faction and Appropriator for Cryptoi)
New: 2 new enemy ship skills: void bomb and kleptransport
New: enemy equipment: mining claw (for rogue kreen)
New: improved economic model each sector now produces one good type and has shortage of two goods types. This is reflected in pricing and also indicated by new UI icons.
New: keyboard shortcuts ( 'r' and ‘f’) for refuel and repair while in station
New: 'you have completed the demo' now shown in main mission UI
New: improve game over panel, with background image, and new button to load saved game.
New: messages clarifying when main UI panels are disabled
New: New title screen music
New: Amount of goods bought defaults to max affordable amount
New: Weapon tooltips now show description of damage type
New: keyboard shortcuts (1-9) for contacting station NPCs
New: refuel sound effect added

Mod: some minor modifications including shortening of names of equipment items
Mod: tooltip for floating faction event buttons now mentions effect of left- and right-clicking
Mod: Use of 'Precision shot' skill is now blocked (as opposed to being used to no effect) and explanation shown when target has shield points
Mod: capture station and build station module events now also impact economic faction stats
Mod: reduced frequency of large asteroids
Mod: increased fuel costs for travelling between sectors
Mod: increased deadline for dispersal/attack missions
Mod: various tutorial text panels rewritten
Mod: rogue kreen mining laser range changed to 1 but made more powerful
Mod: improved enemy ship AI so that they sometimes avoid engaging at close range where appropriate

Fix: bug where all faction stats and relics are reset after loading a game immediately after launch and then travelling to a new sector
Fix: bug where capital ship wrecks are not interactable via mouse movement controls
Fix: bug where station mission indicators sometimes show as yellow (mission available) when they should be red (mission available subject to increased reputation)
Fix: bug where missions can sometimes be obtained from NPCs despite having insufficient reputation
Fix: bug where station module tutorial plays prior to dialogue with relic tutorial mission giver
Fix: bug whereby in-progress relic research was not saved
Fix: bug where in-progress relic research would not progress further after loading from save
Fix: targeting panel no longer shows in bottom-right position relative to a ship, to avoid overlap with detailed ship info panel
Fix: bug causing name of equipment items to be invisible if they were too long
Fix: typo in tooltip description for 'ancient' relic type
Fix: Improved tooltip description of 'Precision shot' skill to clarify ineffectiveness against shielded targets
Fix: attempting to sell resource mission goods, such as fullerenes no longer generates errors, and message that they cannot be sold is shown
Fix: bug where hovering mouse over main log disables keyboard movements controls
Fix: bug where UI elements for map objects are overlaid on the main UI
Fix: tooltip for hostile (and so inaccessible) stations no longer says 'right-click to enter'
Fix: bug where newly constructed station trade modules have no trade goods
Fix: bug where large asteroids were not saved
Fix: bug where sector map view could not be closed using the 'return' button
Fix: bug where target information is not shown for rogue kreen
Fix; moved text indicating cinematic zoom mode to avoid overlap with targeting mode text
Fix: bug where ship targeting panels sometimes continue to be shown when entering loadout/station UI
Fix: added missing UI SFX for save/load panel and settings panel
Fix: turning near a wreck/asteroid can cause unintended wreck/asteroid interaction
Fix: bug where out of energy message sometimes not shown leading to appearance of soft-lock
Fix: bug where target icon sometimes 'left' on map after target ship destroyed and moved in the same turn
Fix: options menu still accessible by cliking button, though not by pressing escape, from game over screen. should give option to load from save on death
Fix: some typos and formatting issues in mission dialogs
Fix: intelligence faction stats and relics are no longer shown until later in the game (consistent with faction even screen)
Fix: event panel percentages now rounded to 2DP
